Bacopa monnieri (Brahmi) 9cm Pot

€ 7.00
Available for shipping from May . A classic Ayurvedic plant long valued for supporting memory and cognitive function. Tender and supplied in a 9 cm pot.
Description

Growth habit & appearance: Bacopa monnieri, known worldwide as Brahmi, forms a soft, mat-forming perennial with small, fleshy, bright green leaves that hold moisture and stay vibrant through the growing season. The plant produces dainty pale-lilac to white flowers along its trailing stems, giving it a gentle ornamental appeal. Its succulent nature allows it to spread evenly, making it both attractive and easy to harvest.

Growing conditions: Although found across Asia, Africa, and southern Europe, Brahmi is a tender plant in Ireland and must be protected from cold nights and frost. It thrives in full sun, consistent warmth, and moist soil. Supplied in a 9 cm pot, it should be grown outdoors only during warm months and moved indoors when temperatures begin to drop. A sunny windowsill or heated greenhouse will keep it actively growing year-round.

Traditional & herbal uses: Brahmi is one of the most widely known Ayurvedic herbs, traditionally used to support mental clarity, memory, concentration, and cognitive performance. It has also been used for asthma, emotional calm, and as a cardiotonic in classical herbal systems. Only the aerial parts are harvested, and the plant responds well to frequent picking.

Maintenance & harvesting: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged, and ensure the plant receives plenty of warmth and bright light. Harvest regularly to encourage new growth. As temperatures cool in autumn, move the plant indoors to a warm, bright windowsill. Avoid overwatering during winter when growth naturally slows. Overwintering indoors is essential for survival in the Irish climate.
