Growth habit & appearance: Agrimonia eupatoria forms an upright clump of softly hairy, pinnate leaves made up of many toothed leaflets that give the plant a textured, almost fern-like appearance. Through midsummer it sends up elegant, elongated spikes of bright yellow, five-petalled flowers, each releasing a light, pleasant scent. These airy floral wands are rich in pollen and nectar, attracting bees and hoverflies throughout their flowering period. As the blooms fade, they form hooked seed burrs that cling lightly to fur or clothing—one of the plant’s characteristic identification features.

Growing conditions: Fully hardy in Ireland, agrimony thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moderately fertile, well-drained soil. As a **native Irish and European** species, it adapts extremely well to local conditions and is tolerant of poorer soils, grassy margins and light meadow-style planting.
