Rekindling The Wild Medicine Path – Plandaí Fiáine an tSamhraidh ag Ivywood

Rekindling The Wild Medicine Path – Plandaí Fiáine an tSamhraidh ag Ivywood

We are excited to be offering this new series of plant medicine events at Ivywood. This series of 4 full days are spaced out over our seasons. During these days we will be spending time in the woodland with the trees and plants there and also out in the apothecary garden and other spaces of Ivywood. We will be engaging in hands on harvesting of roots, tree barks, whole plants, berries, mushrooms or lichen to create medicines together in circle.

To venture into the woodland here is to feel a deeper sense of the magical energy that Ivywood holds. This is an invitation to connect in with the abundance of wild medicine that the land here so graciously offers us for healing.

We will embark on conscious harvesting with each of the native trees and plants as we work with them. We then will engage in our medicine making in circle back in our beautiful apothecary space or in the woodland itself.

These events are suitable for both herb lovers and qualified herbalists wishing to deepen their connection with the medicine of our ancestry and work practically with these wild plants by creating medicine making in circle. These events offer us the opportunity to create new stories of plant and land connection, and traditional skills for our lineage.

We will cover the ins and outs of creating a variety rich and vibrant medicines with freshly harvested  native medicinal plants, roots, barks, berries, fungi and lichen from Ivywood.

You will be taking home your 2 freshly harvested medicines created in community from each day.

An Samhraidh ~ Summer ~  Epilobium & Lonicera Medicine – Embracing the Summer Energies of Fire Through These Wild Medicines

Lús na Tine, Fireweed, Epilobium is an incredibly powerful wild medicine of our lands that is sorely overlooked. During this Samhraidh medicine day we will be turn our focus to this stunning beauty. We will spend time in its presence and consciously harvest for hydrosol making. Creating water and steam distillations is best experienced as a community. We will be learning the techniques of working the still to create a subtle but powerful medicine from our shared Lús na Tine harvest.

Lonicera, Honeysuckle, Féithleann (OR  Herb Robert, Ruithéal Rí, Geranium robertanium  - depending on that years abundance).  Each of these woodland medicinals were traditionally taken during this fire time of the year. We will explore working with either Lonicera or Wild Geranium medicine as infusion and infused oil as the best way to avail of its healing properties and why.
